“I Said Yes…… To Putting A Right Hand Ring On It!”

'Cause if you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it

Who can ever forget the catchy tune to Beyonce’s female power anthem ‘Single Ladies’ where she berated her ex for failing to “put a ring on it”? I know that I can’t! I remember when the song first came out and me and my girls would run to the dance floor as soon as we heard the beat drop and would reenact the entire video! Ah, good times! LOL

Instead of being bitter about about an ex who didn’t realize your worth, why not celebrate your own dopeness? I know of a great way to do just that; a right hand ring! More and more, right hand rings are seen being worn as a declaration of independence or to mark a milestone, whatever their significance. I highly recommend that you give it some consideration!

What are right hand rings?

Worn as a declaration of independence or to mark a milestone, whatever their significance, right-hand rings are most definitely in. Often the purchase of the ring is significant too, as women may invest in a right-hand ring to mark a milestone birthday, a professional achievement or even a divorce. While the term ‘right hand ring’ is a relatively new one, the idea of wearing a ring on the right hand to signify a woman’s economic independence has its roots in the original cocktail rings of the 1920s. As the prohibition movement swept across America, women partaking in the underground drinking scene would don brightly coloured, flamboyant, oversized rings that they had purchased with their own money. The best thing about right finger rings is that there are no rules.

How do you wear right hand rings?

In keeping with the tradition set by the 1920s flappers, in Western countries the right hand is often reserved for fun, flamboyant jewels, such as cocktail rings. As most people are right handed, wearing a statement ring on this hand will increase its visibility, making it more noticeable for other people. With rings of a more minimal design, wearing them stacked vertically on one finger or spread across the whole hand can look very stylish. Rings that coil up the finger are also very fashionable at the moment.

What do right hand rings mean?

In countries such as the UK and the US, where the left ring finger tends to be earmarked for love and commitment, wearing a diamond ring on the right hand makes it clear that it is not an engagement ring. The 1920s concept that a ring worn on the right hand says ‘me’ while the left hand represents ‘we’ still resonates with women today. In 2003, the ‘Raise your Right Hand’ campaign launched, targeting women with enough money to buy a diamond ring for themselves. The campaign had the catch line such: “Your left hand rocks the cradle. Your right hand rules the world”.

Why has the right hand ring become special to The Dean of Fashion & Beauty?

Ever since the craze of right hand rings began trending some years ago, I became interested in having one for myself. While I have accomplished plenty in my life (Several degrees & purchased my first home for starters…), I never felt like any one milestone in particular warranted such a purchase.

Recently, I had the epiphany that I didn’t need to pinpoint or single out any specific moment, so I chose Women’s History Month to be my reason! I realized that I could just get one simply because I’m dope AF (periodt). Shortly after, as if by fate (or maybe I was being tracked by Facebook/Instagram’s algorithm, I dunno. LOL), I stumbled upon Modern Gents Trading Company. I saw that I had found an affordable opportunity that was at my fingertips and I could finally own a beautiful right hand ring at a fraction of the price!

As I began to window shop and finger scroll on my phone during my lunch break, I instantly fell in love with a rose gold ring set; “The Lovely” & her beautiful bestie “The Eternity“. I call them besties, because together they look really good as a unit! The Lovely features a magnificent 3 ct simulated morganite center stone and a strong 925 sterling silver band plated in authentic rose gold. The Eternity has a glimmering set of beautiful stones that are delicately placed around the 925 sterling silver band plated in rose gold.

*Please note that these pics were taken of the ring while it was on my left hand in order for me to take pictures with ease. I’m right handed and it served to be a pretty difficult task. No, I am not engaged, nor am I perpetuating to be.

When I arrived home from work, I couldn’t be any happier to see what was waiting for me in my mailbox! I had just ordered the rings on Saturday and they were here by Monday! Wow, talk about expedited shipping! Amazon Prime had nothing on them! After I opened the packaging, I became immediately smitten by my rings! Let me be the first to say that if pictures are worth 1000 words, these beauties were priceless! Seriously…. to see them in person, I was speechless! Photographs absolutely do them no justice! The way in which the light reflects off of the stones is both captivating and mesmerizing! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!

I’d be remiss if I failed to mention Mod Gents’ customer service! OMG, they treated like I was family! If I had to compare them to any fast food restaurant, it would be Chick-Fil-A! And I mean who doesn’t love Chick-Fil-A?! If I could, I would eat it every day of the week, even on Sundays (when they are closed)!

“I Said Yes…” To Putting A Right Hand Ring On It! And I hope that you enjoyed reading my blog post! If you are in the market to join the tribe of Right Hand Ring Wearers, you should give The Modern Gents Trading Company a try!

*A special shoutout goes to the Modern Gents Trading Company for sponsoring this ring set*
